Meet Roula
The Heart Behind Roulaana
Roula was the soul of our family, a bright and gentle spirit with a smile that lit up every room. Living with both mental and physical disabilities, she required full support in her daily life, but what she gave in return was far greater. Though her speech was limited, she understood English, Arabic, and Aramaic, and would often surprise us with simple words and sweet phrases in all three. She was quietly funny, endlessly strong, and deeply loving. Her presence brought warmth and joy to everyone around her, and her memory continues to guide the way we care for others. Roula is the reason this organisation exists. Her life, her resilience, and her joy are at the very heart of Roulaana.
"She is strong and graceful, and fears nothing." Proverbs 31:25
Meet Kinda
The Strength Behind the Mission
As Roula’s sister and lifelong advocate, I founded Roulaana with one clear purpose — to ensure that no one living with a disability is overlooked, mistreated, or left without the care they deserve. Growing up, Roula was my pride and joy. I took her everywhere, from community gatherings to local outings, always making sure she felt included, seen, and loved. When Roula arrived in Australia, she began receiving support through an NDIS provider. Sadly, I witnessed how easily the system could fail someone so vulnerable. Her needs were ignored, her voice was unheard, and her supports were mismanaged. I knew then that I had to create something better. Roulaana was born from that conviction. It is a promise to every person we care for, to protect their dignity, listen with heart, and stand by them in every step of their journey.
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute."
Proverbs 31:8
❊ Our Values
Our Promise in Practice
Dignity, No Matter What
Every person we support is treated with unwavering respect, regardless of ability, background, or circumstance. We see the individual first and always honour their humanity. Dignity is not negotiable, it’s embedded in everything we do. It shapes every interaction, decision, and moment of care.
Culture is Care
We embrace the languages, traditions, and lived experiences of our participants and team. We take the time to learn, listen, and celebrate what makes each person unique. Culture isn’t a checkbox, it’s a core part of how we connect, communicate, and care. It creates the foundation for trust, safety, and genuine belonging.
Urgency with Heart
We move fast because people matter. Our sense of urgency isn’t about pressure, it is about purpose. We act quickly, compassionately, and without cutting corners. Every action is guided by care, not just speed. When someone needs support, we respond. Not tomorrow or next week, but at the moment it matters most.
Hands-On Care,
Real Connection
No scripts. No surface-level service. We’re present, involved, and genuinely connected. Our hands on approach builds deep, meaningful relationships with participants and their families, creating a safe space for trust, growth, and independence.
Trust is Our Currency
Our word means everything. Whether it’s showing up on time, advocating for funding, or simply being present when someone needs us, trust is something we protect at all costs. We follow through, stay accountable, and do what we say. It’s not just how we work; it’s who we are.
Fiercely Participant-Focused
We don’t just involve participants. We empower them to lead the way. Their goals, voices, and choices guide every decision we make. We take the time to listen, understand, and support what truly matters to them. Everything we do is centred on their independence, confidence, and right to make decisions about their own lives.
